COMMISSION

I have completed commissions for the President of the Royal Horticultural Society, a senior executive at Goldman Sachs, the partner of the owner of a whisky distillery in Scotland, the children of a number of families and for one family, portraits across three generations (including the family dog).

It is always such a thrill when someone rings me and says ‘My wife was absolutely thrilled by the portrait you did’. Sometimes I receive lovely emails from family members who say ‘Thank you so much for the wonderful portrait of my Dad - you really captured his character and spirit.’

If you would like to commission a portrait of one or both of your parents, your partner, your children or perhaps a longstanding friend or work colleague, do contact me. I’d be delighted to discuss interesting ideas and options for how the portrait could be done. It’s even possible to organise a portrait as a surprise gift at a family or work celebration.

For an initial discussion about commissioning a portrait, please email me via my contact page.

“I’ve never been one for overt flattery in portraiture so was thrilled to have Gideon Summerfield‘s work, with its Freudian levels of scrutiny, introduced to me last summer. I was fortunate enough to meet Gideon in New York and then again in London, sitting for him in both cities. The result is this portrait drawing, which I can see is full of the artist’s idiosyncrasies as a draughtsman. There is a rawness and honesty to the way Gideon portrays people, that some may find a little overwhelming, but that I believe reveals a maturity and artistic self-confidence far beyond his years (23). Thank you Gideon, I wouldn’t change a mark!”
