ROYAL ASCOT 2024

I am really excited to be able to share my finished works as part of my Royal Ascot residency this year. This involved making a series of visits to the Ascot Racecourse and local stables during the spring months, to be able to create work to capture the essence and excitement of horse racing. The work I created is now being exhibited at the Royal Enclosure at Royal Ascot.

To portray the spirit of Royal Ascot, I chose to focus on the drama, energy, and excitement of horse racing. With my work, I hoped to express the movement of the horses, along with the changing weather and the atmosphere of the grandstand.

I was thrilled to be invited to the first day of racing on 18th June. Dressing in full morning suit and top hat – what unfamiliar territory and not quite the usual artist’s attire!

Later on in the day, I was delighted that my artwork had caught the attention of His Majesty The King, and The Queen. We enjoyed a wonderful conversation about my art.

Thank you to The Royal Drawing School and Ascot Racecourse for this memorable experience.
