LEGACY OF SURVIVAL
'The Legacy of Survival' is a personal project that has spanned over the last 10 years of my life. I have been meeting and drawing the portraits of Holocaust Survivors. For many years, a number of survivors did not talk to their families about their horrific experiences. The younger generation now know a great deal about what happened but as the years go by, the survivors will not be present to share their stories and it will fall to the next generation and their children to keep the memory alive.
It has been an extraordinary privilege for me personally to learn from people now in their 90s, about their experiences as children and teenagers, how they survived the death camps and the Holocaust.
I hope my paintings will be an ever lasting testimony for what happened over 75 years ago and as a memory for me of those people I now call my friends.
